Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 - 1:04 P.M.

It seems like everyone else on Earth (or at least those in this country) has off today and I'm the only stuck at work. Of course, being the extreme idiot that I am, I think I blew my chance to be excused early today when I told my boss I wasn't planning on driving home until tomorrow. I mean, any normal person surely would have lied and said they were traveling today. ugh.

In other equally fantastic news, I just found out that I need new brake shoes (yes, the guy said "shoes") for my car. The combined total for parts and labor should be around $350. *le sigh* OK, enough complaining already, that's not what I sat down to write about.

This morning I woke up around 6:00 am and just sat staring through my window for a while. The sun was still fighting to make an appearance and everything was covered in pure white. It was surreal, calm, and beautiful. It's still absolutely gorgeous outside right now. Every surface is blanketed with a thick layer of snow and tiny little flakes are falling lazily. I love weather like this. It reminds me of family, love, fireplaces, eggnog, cuddling under blankets, and sweet sugar cookies. Just thinking about it puts me at peace but it's still not even close to how wonderful I felt all this weekend.

I'm finding it difficult to differentiate between days. The weekend for me was a long succession of cuddles, and yummy food, and laughter, and hand holding, and eskimo kisses. We hit the stores and bought some CD's.* We strolled through Cambridge, Brookline, and Boston. We watched "Donnie Darko" con comentary, "Alien", "Sexy Beast," "Spiderman," and "Twelve Monkeys."** We marvelled at the goods in the wonder that is "Bread and Circus." We saw a goth boy wearing cat ears in Harvard Square. We traveled to Providence and wined and dined with my fellow "tattooed by Andrew" crew members plus Kathleen. Lee was accosted by some bouncers and townies who couldn't get over his accent. We all told shit jokes amongst which mine were undoubtedly the shitiest. We smoked. I played with a cat and then passed out, as per usual. Lee and I discovered that my small bathroom is not very condusive to shagging. We sang along to the music chanel feature on my tv, and wondered why they seem to play so much XTC. We drank more wine and got grey teef. We rose at the crack of mutherfuckingdawn and traveled to Logan to do the airport goodbye thing. We marveled at how much money we spent this weekend but concluded it was well worth it. We the kissed goobbye at the security checkpoint, and I remained there for a few moments before tearing up and deciding it was best just to leave quickly.

Now I'm back at work and things are back to normal. I've just had lunch and, as soon as I finish this, I'm going to make some tea. I'm still clinging to the hope that my boss might find it in his heart to send me home early. Although, I'm not really excited about spending my evening alone in the apartment. I'd rather be gathered in a kitchen somewhere baking pies in anticpation of tomorrow, with members of my family whom I don't see very often. Only that dream is about my lack of family, tradition, and unusual circumstances. It's also enough material for another entrie on it's own.

I guess I'll just return home, possibly rent a movie, drink some wine, speak with my boy and be thankful for what I do have. In truth, it's quite a lot and I realize that completely. Tomorrow morning I drive down to NY for a weekend of pug cuddling, Mother consoling, friends seeing, and laundry doing. It should be interesting and relaxing. I have a feeling though that I'm really going to wish someone else was there with me.

62 days and counting!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

* The Luna mini CD that Lee brought me from England is seriously phenomenal. I'm so in love with the first track! Purchases over the weekend = Bjork's "Greatest Hits" and The Reindeer Section's "Son of Evil Reindeer." I'm thoroughly enjoying both of them.

** Hot damn, we watched a lot do movies for a short visit!
