Thursday, Jan. 09, 2003 - 4:01 P.M.

It’s absolutely freezing in my office. I’m slowly warming up because I managed to secure a space heater and some light hot cocoa, but the air is boarding on arctic. I’ve slowly started to get things ready for my move. Being in my apartment feels weird at the moment because I know that it won’t be my place of residence for much longer. It feels less like home now than it ever has before.

Kevin is coming over tonight and I am going to cook him a tasty but healthy dinner of Rigatoni with Sweet Bell Pepper sauce. I haven’t seen him since before Christmas so it’ll be nice to catch up, especially since I’m leaving so soon. Speaking of which, I’m in the process of trying to organize some kind of going away thing. It’ll probably take place next weekend as my roommate’s away then and I’ll have time to plan. Anyway, it should be chock full of some good, clean, fun. *yeah, right*

I was thinking about some things earlier that had me down. I wasn’t thinking about anything earth shatteringly original, but of the prospect of war and also about the child abuse case in NJ which has been in the news lately. It’s things like this that are so easy but yet devastating for one to dwell on. I can’t do anything for those poor children, but I can’t stop thinking about them either. Likewise, I can't replace our asshole President and erase years of bad decisions in regards to international relations. Hmmmm, maybe I should just move. Yes, that’s it. I’ll move to Europe and get the hell out of America; what a splendid idea! I’m right smart, I am.

So tonight I will make pasta, chat with Kevin, maybe straighten up some more, and then watch ER. This weekend will be more of the same ending with dinner on Sunday in the company of Jef, Kathleen, and possibly Kevin. For now the days tick by and I go through the motions, until the night of the 27th when I step on a plane and the real adventure begins.
